Juneau man charged with DWI after vehicle crashes into residence Sunday morning

An alleged escapade of intoxicated and high-speed driving landed a Juneau man in Lemon Creek Correctional Center on Sunday morning, according to a release from the Juneau Police Department.

JPD received several reports a vehicle crashed into a residence at about the 9.5 mile point on Glacier Highway. One witness said the vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed before striking parked vehicles and hitting the residence, the release states.

After arriving on scene, JPD determined the driver of the vehicle had fled on foot, the release states. Officers located Travis Lies, 22, a short time later at a nearby residence, and arrested him for driving while intoxicated, failure to give immediate notice of an accident and reckless endangerment, the release states. Lies was taken to LCCC.

Damage to the residence Lies allegedly struck is described in the release as “significant.”
