KTOO announces changes to its SE lineup

After nearly 20 years as Alaska One, Juneau’s public television station, KTOO-TV, is switching to Alaska Public Television service from Anchorage-based KAKM-TV for new programming in Southeast Alaska.

The new service is scheduled to replace Alaska One on July 1.

The upshot is three separate public television channels available to Southeast Alaska viewers.

KTOO’s flagship PBS service and public affairs channel 360 North will be joined by a new channel called Create. Fans of cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, home improvement and travel can tune into Create for do-it-yourself programming. The lifestyle channel will offer programming around the clock.

Channel 3.1 in Juneau will offer high definition PBS programming, also to be found on GCI Cable channel 657, according to a KTOO press release.

“Most prime time programs will air in the same time slots, but viewers can expect a new line up during the day and on weekends,” according to KTOO’s release.

Southeast Alaskans can view the Alaska Public Television PBS channel on GCI Cable, Dish Network and Direct TV “with no change to the channel numbers,” according to KTOO’s release.

Public television viewers in Juneau may catch Create on channel 3.2 and 360 North on channel 3.3.
