The Douglas July 4th Soapbox Challenge will take place on July 3 and 4. The location of the race is on St. Ann’s Avenue from Summers Street down to Third Street. Time trial races will take place on July 3 beginning at 12 p.m. The time trials will continue until finished at approximately 9 p.m. The race finals will start on July 4 immediately after the Douglas Parade. The finals will continue until finished at about 6:30 p.m.
Starting July 3 at 12 p.m., St. Ann’s from Summers Street to Third Street will be closed to vehicular traffic, according to the Juneau Police Department. The road will remain closed to traffic until about 7 p.m. on July 4. During this time, the road will be barricaded and both edges of St. Ann’s will be lined with tires.
Any vehicle parked on St. Ann’s Avenue from Summers Street to Third Street during this closure will be cited and impounded at the owner’s expense. Impounded vehicles will not be available for pickup until Thursday, July 5. The Douglas boat harbor parking lot will be available for parking.
