City seeks new tenant
Juneau’s transit center waiting area restaurant Empanada Dorada has closed. The City and Borough of Juneau has boarded up the counter at 45 Egan Drive while it seeks a new restaurant tenant.
Empanada Dorada is owned by Samuel M. Glass of Dorada Restaurants, LLC. Glass ran the small restaurant with is wife, Cristina. The couple started working on the idea of an empanada restaurant in 2008 (goo.gl/BCz6G). By the summer of 2012 it was closed.
Samuel Glass and Cristina Glass were not available for comment. Samuel Glass created Dorada Restaurants, LLC in November 2011. The corporation is in good standing with the state of Alaska.
John Kern, CBJ transit superintendent said Samuel and Cristina made the decision to close their restaurant.
“For now we have closed up the vendor area and reopened the waiting area without a vendor present,” Kern said. He said CBJ is working on a request for proposals for a new vendor.
“We are very interested in getting the vendor space reoccupied,” Kern said. He said interested vendors can contact him directly to receive a copy of the RFP by email at John_Kern@ci.juneau.ak.us or by calling 789-6903.

A J&J "satellite" shop would be excellent, especially with the new owners providing asian/filipino food along with the sandwiches. Neat, portable, and healthy. And much better than a certain chains $7-$8 foot longs.
The best restaurant for that space
would probably be a doughnut shop.
