A Juneau man was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers for negligently leaving human food in a manner that attracted black bears.
Troopers said in a dispatch that Keith P. Fuller, 60, was cited for the non-criminal minor offense on Sunday.
Troopers said they and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game began receiving calls about problem bears in the Wickersham area of Juneau beginning in late May.
An investigation found evidence that human food had been left out at 1940 Sutherland Drive, causing an attraction of black bears. Fuller was then contacted and warned about the situation.
ADFG received more reports of bear problems in the same neighborhood in early July, the dispatch states. Fuller was again contacted at the Sutherland address, where food scraps, such as fish parts, noodles and frozen shellfish, were found in the yard.
He was fined $310 for feeding game.
Fuller’s phone number is not listed in the phone book, and he could not be reached for comment.
