4 others also indicted Friday

A grand jury issued multiple indictments Friday, including one for assault and two for felony driving under the influence.

Shawn M. Jessup, 23, who is accused of attacking a woman with scissors last month, was indicted on one count of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree assault.

The former is a class ‘B’ felony that can carry up to 10 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. The latter is a ‘C’ felony that can carry up to five years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Nicholas C. Long, 34, was indicted on one count of felony driving while under the influence for drinking and driving on April 19 while having two or more prior drunken driving convictions in the past 10 years. That’s a ‘C’ felony.

Mario I. Urquiza, 38, was indicted on one count of felony driving while under the influence for and one count of felony refusal to submit to a chemical test. Both those are ‘C’ felonies.

Michael J. Schwab, 53, was indicted on two counts of failure to appear in Juneau court on March 29 and June 27. Both those are ‘C’ felonies.

Indictments are not indicative of guilt, but rather formal accusations of illegal activity.

The District Attorney’s Office presents cases to the grand jury each Friday.
