The Empire reported in an Aug. 5 story that an assistant district attorney argued in court during bail arguments that Russel S. Griffin posed public safety concerns, especially since his wife is a Girl Scout Leader.
Anne Gore, the Director of Communications for the Girl Scouts of Alaska, says Griffin’s wife is not a Girl Scout Leader. She is a parent volunteer with their daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
The Juneau troop is approved to meet at a local church and has never met in the Griffin home, Gore added.
Gore noted background checks are conducted on all Girl Scout staff and leaders, and if a troop is planning to meet in a volunteer’s home, a background check is also required for other adults living in that home. That would include spouses.

Can a background check reveal sexual preferences? Oooh wait, that's the boy scouts. Hand over the federal dollars.
The D.A.'s inference was a cheap shot.

Ummm ... no, the DA is doing his job by protecting young girls from a predator.
The DA is doing his job in prosecuting an alleged predator.
I have no problem with revoking bail on sexual predators, alleged or otherwise.
But I'm not comfortable connecting dots leading to Mom.
I'm probably making too much of it.
By the way, when did this not become too sensitive for comment?

Thank you Girl Scouts for setting the story straight. I am glad they are doing background checks on everyone.
