Police non-emergency phone lines experiencing problems

Posted: August 16, 2012 - 4:17pm

The non-emergency phone line for the Juneau Police Department was down earlier this morning, but calls are now being answered, the Juneau Police Department said.

Lt. David Campbell said there was a problem with one the phone trunks that caused a busy signal on the 586-0600 phone number.

Campbell said the carrier company is working on fixing the issue. Until it is fixed, calls are being transferred from the 586-0600 number to a cell phone so that all calls are being answered.

Campbell added the 911 emergency number was not affected since it’s on a different system than the main phone lines.
