Downtown assault is JPD Crime of the Week

The Juneau Police Department Crime of the Week for Aug. 17 is in reference to an assault in the downtown area.


Sgt. Paul Hatch said in a release that at 3:30 a.m. Aug. 4, a 31-year-old man reported he had just been assaulted near the downtown transit center on Main Street by a group of five people.

The victim said he was on one of the stairwells when he was confronted by a person in the group. The victim was hit in the face and “choked out,” the release states.

The man described one of the assailants as male, about 5’7” with long black hair.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to log onto the Juneau Crime Line at and report the tip. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and can be rewarded.
