Doesn't look like a street urchin or the usual riff-raff looking to buy their next 40 oz.
He's playing music...takes some talent...not much different from the numerous artists frequenting downtown with a guitar and open case.
Begging? Shameful?
Not really. Though Mom & Dad probably will not appreciate his 'entrepreneurial' spirit.
If you don't like it, don't pay him. He is providing a service, whether or not he does it well I don't know, but he is doing something. People pay to hear music in a bar. He is just playing for tips. I might have worded the sign differently but I see nothing shameful
Its called busking, musicians do it all the time. We even have a few locals busking for money from time to time. I dont see any shame in it at all. Had i noticed this young man i would have gladly paid him a few bucks for his music.
Yep, Obummer DID build that! another kid looking for a handout and will probably live with mom and dad until mid twenties to stay on their health insurance...
I couldn't believe the number of comments this picture elicited. Moreover, the negative attitude that pervades the string of remarks. A kid playing his ukulele on a bench was somehow morphed into an icon to gauge the political climate. This is about par for the course in the JE comment section.

I wonder how many tired
I wonder how many tired elderly tourists would have liked to rest on the bench but couldn't because of Mr. Rude No Manners Hog the Bench?
He does look comfortable.

The kids sign sums up
The kids sign sums up perfectly the mind set of today’s liberal….I am on vacation….(from what?) …but need money…LOL
This is the same mindset that would make a call like this...“Hello, I am calling you from my 300$ smart phone about getting on food stamps”
The hippies did a great job of making being a bum seem cool.
