The Juneau Police Department Crime of the Week for Friday is in reference to a burglary and theft.
Sgt. Paul Hatch said in a news release that, a resident from the 9500 block of Mendenhall Loop Road reported a burglary on Aug. 22. Several items were taken including firearms and jewelry.
The firearms were listed as a Winchester Model 70 in .270 caliber, a Browning A-5 20 gauge shot gun, a Rossi .45LC Lever action rifle and a Browning semi-auto .410 shotgun.
The stolen jewelry includes a pearl necklace, Tlingit design earrings with a raven head and “EAK” inscribed on the back, and a men’s gold nugget ring weighing about one-third of an ounce. Silverware was also stolen, the release states.

There are lots of folks in town that deal in firearms, the PD use to make a list and give it to the gun dealers when weapons were taken. but they will not even tell them if a gun is stolen when they call in and ask before they buy it ???? why not do that again???
