$100,000 warrant out for man's arrest

A $100,000 arrest warrant is out for a man suspected of sexually abusing a minor.

Judge Philip Pallenberg issued the warrant for John W. Strickling, 66, on Friday after Strickling was indicted on five counts of sexually abusing a person under 13 years old.

According to affidavit, Strickling’s current whereabouts are unknown. The warrant lists his last known address as the streets of Nome.

Strickling is accused of abusing the minor, whom he knew, from 2002 to 2009 in both Juneau and Ketchikan.

According to charging documents, the abuse continued for years before the alleged victim reported it to her mother. The mother then reported it to police in January 2011.

Strickling made admissions of guilt when interviewed by police over the phone in July, according to an affidavit.

Strickling is facing four counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. Both those offenses are punishable by up to 99 years in prison.
