Woman cited for harassment for dog threat

A woman was cited for harassment last week after she allegedly threatened to sic her Rottweiler on another woman walking the Airport Dike Trail.

The 24-year-old victim reported to police that a woman walking her dog came up to her, within inches of her face, and screamed profanities at her, according to the police citation.

The woman then threatened to sic her Rottweiler on her and let go of the leash, the citation alleges.

Lt. David Campbell, a spokesman with the Juneau Police Department, said no one was injured in the incident, and the dog did not attack anyone.

“It was just a threat,” Campbell said.

Campbell said alcohol was involved. He noted it did not appear as if the two women knew each other.

The incident took place a little after 5 p.m. last Thursday.

Police identified the suspect as 54-year-old Marlee Jane Wallace and cited her for harassment, a misdemeanor.

Wallace is scheduled to be arraigned in Juneau District Court before Judge Keith Levy on Friday.

Phone calls to Wallace seeking comment were not returned by press time Wednesday.
