Alaska Living History to host Alaska Day events

Alaska Day is next Thursday, Oct. 18, but Alaska Living History and several other organizations will be hosting events all month long to celebrate.


Below are some of the events planned thus far:

• Saturday, Oct. 13: Costume contest and student coloring and essay contest at Nugget Mall from 2 to 5 p.m.

• Thursday, Oct. 18: Alaska Day breakfast will be held at the Senior Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. John Venables, a re-enactor, will be serving the guests.

• Saturday, Oct. 20: E.L. “Bob” Bartlett Alaska Day, Red Rose Music Concert at Nugget Mall.

• Oct. 27: Earnest Gruening Alaska Day Awards Ceremony at the Moose Lodge from 1 to 3 p.m.
