Historical photo: Totem Carver

Posted: October 24, 2012 - 12:01am

Item 91: Postcard photograph labeled “Alaska Native totem carver,” circa 1939, by Schallerer.

It appears this image was taken during the Civilian Conservation Corps federal Works Relief Program when Tlingit and Haida carvers created Southeast Alaska’s totem parks.
