Olivia's de Mexico up for sale

Olivia Castaneda sits her restaurant, Olivia's, in downtown Juneau on Wednesday. Her brother started the business in 1973 and she started working there in 1976. Castaneda is looking to retire and has the business up for sale.

After 35 years in the restaurant business, Olivia Castaneda, owner of Olivia’s de Mexico, has decided to sell the eatery and prepare for retirement. She’s even willing to throw in her original Mexican recipes should the buyer choose.

Castaneda bought the business in 1976. She attributes her success to hard work and loyal customers.

“People are friendly and I love my job, Castaneda said.

However, after a life of taking care of her customers, Castaneda said she needs to find time to take care of herself.

“I’m going to be 60 [years-old] in the next year. It is time to take care of my health,” Castaneda said. She also looks forward to spending time with her grandchildren.

Olivia is asking $110,000 for her long-standing business. It comes with a beer and wine license. Fixtures furniture and equipment included.

Castaneda said she wants to thank all the people who have walked into her restaurant. “Without my customers I don’t think I could raise my three kids by myself,” Castaneda said. I’m really proud of my kids.”
