1925 was the second year of the National Meat Story Contest. Hosted by the National Live Stock and Meat Board, the contest worked with home economics teachers around the country to teach girls how to prepare meat. Contestants were required to write a story on the theme of meat and submit three original recipes. The 1925 contest drew 13,500 participants according to the booklet which published some of the recipes and was won by Frances Erdmon of Turlock, Calif. who received a $300 prize.
