Woman arrested at airport on suspicion of transporting heroin

Police say they arrested a woman at the Juneau International Airport on Thursday on suspicion of transporting heroin.


The Juneau Police Department said in a release that Juneau resident Jessica Beck, 25, was arrested at about 9:20 a.m. as she was returning from Seattle. Beck was arrested by members of the JPD Metro Drug Unit and two FBI agents.

The release states narcotic investigations obtained a search warrant and found two hidden packages on Beck that contained approximately 111 grams of a substance that field tested positive as heroin.

The substance will be sent to the Alaska Crime Lab in Anchorage to confirm that it was heroin and to determine the exact weight of the drugs.

JPD Lt. David Campbell said in the release that the street value of the suspected heroin is around $110,000.

Beck was arrested on a felony charge, second-degree drug misconduct. She was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
