SEACAD makes drug bust in North Douglas

Troopers: 46 ounces of processed marijuana seized

The Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs task force made a drug bust in North Douglas and seized a total of 46 ounces of processed marijuana, according to the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.

The bureau said in a dispatch that troopers detected the odor of “cultivating marijuana” coming from a residence on North Douglas Highway while they were investigating an unrelated case on Monday.

Troopers executed a search warrant on the house on Wednesday with assistance from the Juneau Police Department.

Law enforcement discovered a marijuana grow in the residence, and they seized marijuana packaged for sale, a digital scale, suspected drug proceeds and items relating to cultivating marijuana.

Troopers said a suspect was contacted at the residence, but no names were released. Criminal charges alleging three counts of fourth-degree drug misconduct will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office, the dispatch states.

SEACAD is one of the seven statewide drug enforcement units in Alaska that operates under the umbrella of the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.
