The Juneau-area Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association is hosting its 39th annual Senior Citizens Holiday Dinner this Sunday.
The event will begin at 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall, 320 W. Willoughby Ave, with an hour of free entertainment followed by a free dinner at 5 p.m., according to a news release from the Coast Guard.
The event is open to senior citizens and their care givers.
Senior citizens who would like to attend but need transportation should contact Care-A-Van at 907-463-6194 to make a reservation, the release states. Transportation reservations will need to be made by Friday, or seniors will be required to use other methods of transportation to get to and from the event.
The holiday dinner was first organized in 1974 and has since become an annual tradition for the local chiefs, according to David Borg, the Juneau-area CPOA president.
