The fire department responded to a vehicle fire on Arctic Circle at about 12:29 p.m. Monday, according to officials.
Capital City Fire/Rescue Chief Richard Etheridge said fire crews found smoke coming out from under the hood and a small fire on the back of the car’s engine. It was extinguished by crews with water from a small water can.
The fire was caused when some type of plastic made contact with the exhaust system, Etheridge said in a phone interview.
The 1989 Toyota Corolla was on running in the driveway while its owner was shovelling snow in the driveway, Etheridge said. The fire department was called when someone noticed smoke coming out from under the car.
No injuries were reported.
