Alaska, Juneau unemployment remains below national level

Alaska’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remains below the national rate at 7.1 percent in Oct., according to the Alaska Department of Labor December Economic Trends. The revised national rate in Oct. was 7.9 percent.

Juneau‚s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was one of the lowest in the state at 4.3 percent. The most recent U.S. employment report showed an increase of 146,000 jobs in November, bringing the national unemployment rate down to 7.7 percent ˆ the lowest since Dec. 2008.

National jobs growth in Nov. is slightly lower than the 11-month average of 154,000 private sector jobs a month.
