Santa Claus will be in Juneau this evening, atop a Capital City Fire/Rescue fire truck.
Santa and his firefighters will be giving out candy canes during the annual parade in downtown Juneau and Douglas.
The parade begins at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14.
The route will begin at the tram, proceed up Franklin Street to Fourth Street along Calhoun Avenue, down 12th Street to Glacier Avenue, up Highlands Drive along Behrends Avenue, and looping back to Glacier Avenue.
At about 8 p.m., Santa will continue across Douglas Bridge up Cordova Street to Foster Avenue around the loop at Cedar Park, back down Cordova Street, continuing to Douglas.
Santa will arrive in Douglas and continue down Second Street to Saint Ann’s, looping back towards the middle of town on Fifth Street at about 8:45 p.m., greeting all the boys and girls of Douglas with candy canes.
Santa will also be traveling aboard the Auke Bay Area Fire Department truck next Saturday, Dec. 22, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The route for that parade begins at the Auke Bay Station, down the back Loop Road to Lake Shore Drive, Steelhead, Wren Drive, and onto Montana Creek subdivisions. After greeting all the children, Santa and the fire truck will return onto back Loop Road, stopping at the All Season subdivision.
Santa will also be visiting the Auke Bay Fire Station for the Christmas Open House that same Saturday, Dec. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. CCFR Chief Richard Etheridge will also be reading Christmas stories to the children.
