This is the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 420’s Christmas gathering in 1913. There are several men in costume and lots of children gathered in front of the decorated tree.

A lot has changed in 99 years. The costumes look more like Halloween than Christmas. No one appears as a modern Santa, eighteen years before he was first drawn in a Coca Cola advertisement (1931) by the beloved prolific illustrator Swedish-American Haddon Sundblom.
