Jailhouse assault earns inmate 14 more months

An inmate at the Juneau jail was sentenced to additional time to serve for attacking another inmate.

Juneau Superior Court Judge Philip Pallenberg imposed 14 months for 20-year-old Devin L. Clements.

Prosecutors say Clements attacked a former confidential police informant while standing at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center lunch line in late July.

A grand jury indicted him on second-degree assault, a felony. He pleaded guilty to less serious felony charge and was sentenced Tuesday.

At the time of the assault, Clements was in custody in connection to a robbery and vehicle theft case.
