Man wanted on outstanding warrants arrested after chase through Wal-Mart

Posted: February 18, 2013 - 1:00am

A man wanted for violation of his parole and felony escape was arrested Sunday after a foot chase through Wal-Mart.

According to the Juneau Police Department, an off-duty police officer recognized 26-year-old Justin Brokken inside the store. On-duty officers responded and contacted Brokken who fled toward the back of the store.

Following a foot chase, Brokken was taken into custody near the entrance to store. Police subdued him with a Taser and with the assistance from a Wal-Mart employee.

Brokken was taken into custody for violation of his parole for a conviction of controlled substance misconduct in the second degree as well as a warrant for escape in the second degree.

Brokken was evaluated by Capital City Fire and Rescue before being taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. He was additionally charged with escape in the fourth degree and was held without bail.

Justin has been getting in these messes for years. A quick search of the Empire's database shows why he was on probation to begin with. Maybe he should serve his time this time.

Sad for his family

Shame on him for not getting it together. He just doesn't get it and never will. Nothing has motivated him to do better. He has a young child to be an example to. Instead he's shaming his family, disregarding his obligations and continuing to be a menace to society. No amount of jail time will fix stupid. Here's to a future Dawson and Hanson. This will never end!

Cops should hang out at Walmart

more often. That is drug central with Switzer right across the street. They's probably catch a criminal a day if they could. Nice job JPD!

Just Sad

Justin has been given so many opportunities to get himself straight and was finally allowed to be more of a presence in his childs life. Now, once again, he's thrown that away. Sad for his child, sad for his family who are once again brought into the negative attention of a small town.

I have one thing I want to share with all the bloggers here, out of the subject, but do you guys ever have concerns about some coffee stands in town? I recently went to one location, not gonna say which one, after getting my cup of Joe I said to myself, " What if some of the workers add anything to peoples coffee? The worst I could of imagine, meth. Do you guys feel get that impression?

Axiom

You have quite the imagination.
I'm sure the hard working people at those stands (I know several) appreciate your opinion of them.
Please share where you work so we can conjure and make public our imagined threats to the city by yourself and or your fellow employees.
Maybe the hospital spikes kids bottles, or maybe the college pokes holes in students prevention tools, maybe your paranoid.

Axiom, one more brief thing (sorry to others for second post)

If your this paranoid you should try that old fashioned idea of not shopping there. You know like changing the channel if you dont like the program.

Attention to details acquire some imagination. Exactly, how certain are you these stuff don't happen? Your lack of knowledge only backs up your own little theory, because you know some of the people that works there. However, I do know some of the people that works there too. And for a fact, a few of those people have had history of using drugs. I wouldn't trust anyone with that making my food or drinks. I just hope you're not ignorant that every hospital DOES NOT spike a few things on people, because some hospitals due spike a few things. Ignorance is bliss, my friend. So thank goodness you don't go to the hospital everyday for a cup of coffee..

If you are still not paranoid, how many other drive up coffee stands can you go to? Trust is a big issue to me, and you not being careful who knows? Besides, how do you know a state of mind of a user (drug), to not spike anything? If your own guts can't tell you, than I am sorry.

I would feel more

I would feel more apprehension about urine, feces, or saliva in my coffee then expensive illegal drugs. However, I generally make my own coffee so this is not an issue that concerns me a great deal. Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention. I'm sure that the larger portion of the population of our fair city will will be at increased levels of vigilance due to your admonitions toward caution.

Axiom -

Morning Axiom. I believe I can speak for many on this subject (note: not a doctor), but I believe you may want to talk to someone about your somewhat irrational fears. While, yes such an event is possible, the probability of it occuring is near zero. I'm not dismissing you concern outright, I'm just stating that you may be too wrapped up in a near falicy to see the reality of the world around you.

When in doubt, make your own coffee.

Kudos Raineak

Goor post to the paranoid Axiom.
To add to it I'm shocked he still lives on the surface, the moon could crash into the planet like that metorite did Russia the other day and the one up by Carcross a few years back. It's becoming epidemic. But then underground means the lava could find you.
Whats a paranoid to do ? LOL

Proper

I do think it is proper to put all kidding aside. If someone is feeling hightened levels of paranoia they should seek help (assuming they can bring themselves to do that or even recognize the issue). If you know someone who is displaying aborant behavior, please try to guide them to the proper assistance.

Perhaps Axiom is in the early stages of Agoraphobia or something similar.

Seeking help only alerts the "Man" to you, making you a potential target. Best to just hide in your crawl space with a tinfoil halt to ward off the probing mind reading rays. On a seperate note, has anyone else noticed an increase in Black helicopters flying around town lately?

question

Nobody has questioned why it was necessary to chase this person through Wal-Mart, possibly endangering the public. There are children and elders present. He was not actively committing a crime. He was simply in the store. Could he not have been apprehended while leaving?

Why did the Wal-Mart employee get involved in "assisting" the police? Were there not enough police officers present with tasers?

I don't shop at Wal-Mart and this action ensures that I will not be in that store, nor will any of my children.

Axiom, did you feel like you were on meth after drinking the coffee? I'm curious to hear about your experience after drinking it. Did you twitch for hours on end? Did you feel euphoric after drinking it and had a pretty hard coming-down feeling?? I'm really curious, here!

@raininak @ superhero

Thank you for your lazy comment. Maybe your just to old and do not care anymore, or had just woken up really early to write this, or you have been up on meth. I'm not too sure, but then again if you think the country was not paranoid about National Security, then boy you obviously been living under the surface. Superhero, it's called a trucker's coffee, keeps people up. And this is not an AA, not going to share a little experience from it.

Axiom - if you're writing

Axiom - if you're writing these paranoid, rambling, nonsense comments to joke around with commenters, then you've been successful. But, if you actually mean it? If you honestly believe what you are writing, then I urge you to do as Raininak suggested and get some help.
