A man wanted for violation of his parole and felony escape was arrested Sunday after a foot chase through Wal-Mart.
According to the Juneau Police Department, an off-duty police officer recognized 26-year-old Justin Brokken inside the store. On-duty officers responded and contacted Brokken who fled toward the back of the store.
Following a foot chase, Brokken was taken into custody near the entrance to store. Police subdued him with a Taser and with the assistance from a Wal-Mart employee.
Brokken was taken into custody for violation of his parole for a conviction of controlled substance misconduct in the second degree as well as a warrant for escape in the second degree.
Brokken was evaluated by Capital City Fire and Rescue before being taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. He was additionally charged with escape in the fourth degree and was held without bail.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that your last comment was a quick reply (it doesn't make much sense). If you could expound upon it I would appreciate it. Such as, how was my comment lazy? Why would I be old for having made such a comment? How does your fear of meth in your coffee relate to national security? How many truckers do you know in Juneau?
I'll be honest, pending a more thourough answer, I am a little scared for your neighbors and family. You seem a little off your rocker.
Taser again?
No doubt this guy is a bad dude but tasers are over used. If the cop isn't big enough to control the suspect with a bit of muscle and a pepper spray he/she should quit and let someone more capable have the job. Some of the cops love to use the taser just to see the suspect squirm in pain, one only needs to overhear the laughing and joking of the cops together after they use these things. Only in a life and death struggle should they be allowed. The volts from those things can and have been lethal. Maybe after a good lawsuit after they kill a person with a pacemaker some restrictions may go into effect.
@JV
The days of cops using brute muscle are diminished. Tasers were invented and are encouraged for this type of thing. No police office should put his or herself in danger from a thug who may have a knife or be so high on drugs that they are uncontrollable. The only other option would be batons or guns. they are not trying to make the person squirm with pain and they would not have used the taser if the idiot would not have resisted arrest.
@Axiom
If you are so paranoid, stay home or better yet move to the mountains so we don't have to deal with ignorant people like you! Juneau would be a much better place. Your rant of ridiculousness has nothing to do with this story....
Kudos
Kudos to the off duty JPD officer who observed the individual and prevented the DB from escaping. Cops might be off the clock but they remain alert at all times. Next time you run into a cop take the time to thank them for the job that they do. Plenty of job security for cops in Juneau!
kudos to kudos..AND @ tikitime
JVampire, you received 5 vote downs, I' am starting to think the people responsible are these same lousy, bored, under ovulated individuals. People please, when someone expresses their opinions that are in the grey area, like the cop tasing, put your thinking cap back on. And tikitime, have you watched any recent episode of COPS? Using brute force on potential criminals are not diminished, far from it.
@raininak Wake up and smell the coffee
To keep you tame, you had said something that may be be contradicting from your first comment. You said, "While, yes such an event is possible, the probability of it occuring is near zero." Now Raininak, you shared your opinion on Mr. Brokken, now imagine if Mr. Brokken was working at a coffee stand and delivered your coffee? How exactly and honestly would you react?

Tough time following you Axiom. If I ordered and went to pick up a coffee and it was deliviered by anyone who appear to be capable of working the job, I would proably take it and drink it. I don't judge. If the person, however, was sluring their speak and unable to act coherently, I may think twice (not for meth in my coffee reasons, but just out of a safey mindset.
I guess I am not seeing why you are so peeved that the majority of people on this forum think you are way over reacting and somewhat paranoid to even think someone would spike your coffee at an established coffee house in Juneau.
What is your real concern? Your responses are lacking some coherency that is needed for your argument to be understood.
I'm starting to think Axiom
I'm starting to think Axiom is the one on meth......
A meth head wouldn't waste their meth on a random coffee customer......
Maybe He and Ryan West
