Alaska State Troopers responded to two incidents at Lemon Creek Correctional Center Tuesday, one involving contraband, the other, an assault.
Troopers said in an online dispatch that they received a report at 11:25 a.m. that an inmate was in possession of contraband, which was confiscated.
“Investigation revealed that a 33-year-old inmate was seen by a female who delivered contraband during visitation,” the dispatch states.
Troopers are recommending six felony criminal charges for first-degree promoting contraband, and the case was forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
No additional information was provided, and troopers did not respond to inquiries seeking further comment on Thursday.
At 12:11 p.m. Tuesday, troopers responded to the LCCC for a report of an assault. An investigation revealed a 36-year-old male inmate assaulted a 38-year-old male inmate with a metal meal tray in the cafeteria. The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention.
Troopers say they are recommending assault charges. No names were released.
Troopers on Wednesday also arrested three men for failing to register as a sex offender.
Troopers said Vernon Wright, 49, of Juneau; Allen Mill, 49, of Juneau; and Frank Brown, 50, of Juneau, were all out of compliance with the sex offender registry. Charges are being forwarded to the DA’s office.
