A woman was arrested Monday at the Juneau International Airport for trafficking narcotics, police said.
Juneau Police Department Lt. Kris Sell said in a release that Sheena Agustin, 24, was found carrying approximately 68 grams of methamphetamine.
Agustin was arrested at about 12:30 p.m. Monday by JPD officers working with federal law enforcement officers.
She was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center on no bail.
Police said Agustin is charged with one count of third-degree drug misconduct, a felony that can carry up to 10 years in prison.

I am sorry, but I just looked her up on the daily court log, the court cases with her name and whos in jail in alaska.....her name does not show up on any record. Is this really true or did they release her and not charge her with anything?

With the trafficking of drugs across state lines and the history of lienency in Superior Court, this definitely should be prosecuted in US District Court. It will force the young lady to take responsibility for her actions and she will be bound by the federal sentencing guidelines. It does appear in recent years that the crackdown by the Feds are helping clean up our town, one arrest at a time.

I'd hardly think so. The Facebook stuff is gibberish, while Michelle Obama is known for being quite eloquent. Her speech at the DNC was descibed as 'masterful' by the WaPo.
So far as I can see one is the First Lady of this country, married to the (twice) democratically elected President, and the others a junkie. Don't know why that comparison would make sense to you, but to each their own. As this young lady shows, some people can live off in crazy world.

I wonder how many times she did this before she got caught. The cops didn't stumble into catching her. They were there at the airport waiting for her. In other words, they had some pretty good intel on her. My guess is she was ratted out by somebody who was recently given a pretty light sentence for some heavy stuff.
Anyway, her Facebook page should stay the same for some time to come. I doubt if she will be in a position to change it for more than a few years.

Like being unable to turn
Like being unable to turn away from a train wreck I too checked out her FB page and I found it incredibly depressing. She obviously has fully embraced the "thug life" and if you look at her pictures it doesnt take a genius to figure out why she popped up on LEOs radar.
She will no doubt spend a few years behind bars being indoctrinated further into the thug life and return to the streets for a short period of time before she returns to prison. The cycle is unfortunately easy to predict and I have no more of an idea of how to break it than anyone else.
Her FB page is an intel goldmine, I hope LEO mines it well.

So here's the thing about Facebook: Maybe you get friended by someone like Sheena due to some mutual interest...you've never even been to her page, and have no idea what she's like in her 'real' life.
Then something like this happens.
Now all the Peeping Toms like Gnome and JNUKara and me take a gander at her Facebook page to see what the buzz is about, and we take a scroll through her friends to see if she's associating with anyone we know...and there you are.
Now we're wondering if you're one of her druggie pals. Maybe even her dealer. Or another mule. Do you speak gangsta? We'll be going to your FB page next. And looking at you through different eyes the next time we meet.
I went to middle school with
I went to middle school with this girl. In sixth grade (age 12), while the rest of us were focused on timid crushes and nail polish, she was skipping class to drink and smoke pot. She also bragged about sexual conquests quite a bit. I didn't see her at JDHS and assumed she moved out of state, but after so many years, I'm not surprised that this is what has become of this girl. Kind of sad, though...bad eggs aren't born, they are made.

None of us are in a position to help this girl. She's in custody and quite frankly her family doesn't need a bunch of Empire commenters "reaching out" as if we are all somehow blessed with the gift of making bad situations disappear. What they need is a good lawyer.
It's also generally quite easy to pass judgement on people who willingly attempt to transport meth on airplanes. And that's the truth.

There is a vast difference
between someone who has fallen on hard times and becomes a drug user, and someone who blatantly embraces the thug lifestyle and gets caught smuggling drugs into our community.
Chances are, this isn't her first time doing this, so no I don't have sympathy for her, nor do I feel the need to help her. Let the DA and court system handle that.

I'm successful and Sheena saw that. But our lifestyles are completely different. I was starting to get to know her and you know what, I'm not going to judge her. Those drugs aren't her.

It's funny that she's a "girl" at 24 years old. Give me a break. At 24 my husband was supporting a family with a newborn son. At 24 it had been six years since I lived with mom and dad. At 24 a person is legally an adult. I don't have any sympathy for an adult that chooses to behave this way.
