Car v. bus collision on Glacier Avenue

JPD: 1 bus passenger taken to BRH with injuries, driver of Subaru cited for negligent driving

Police say a bus passenger was taken to the hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries after a crash on Glacier Avenue near Ross Way at about 2:21 p.m. Monday.

Sgt. Chris Gifford said in a release that a 2005 Subaru Forester traveling inbound on Glacier attempted to make a U-turn on the roadway in front of a city bus.

The Subaru was unable to turn completely and backed up into the path of the bus. The bus was unable to stop in time and struck the Subaru in a “t-bone” manner, the release states.

One of the bus passengers was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital, the release says.

Police identified the driver of the Subaru as Anchorage resident Timothy Young, 32. He was cited for negligent driving.

Police said there was about $1,000 worth of damage to the bus and about $3,000 to the Subaru.
