Man arrested for robbing, assaulting cab driver

A Juneau man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a cab driver at about 2:45 a.m. Friday morning in the 6500 block of the Glacier Highway access road.

The cab driver reported to police that he was giving a ride to a man and a woman, and as they came to a stop on the access road, the man hit the driver several times in the face and demanded all his money, the Juneau Police Department said in a release.

The driver was able to summon help via his radio, and police received the report at about 2:45 a.m.

The male fare was later identified as 21-year-old Jordan Oldham. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, a felony, and fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

He was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held without bail, police said.
