SERRC education resource center

Posted: March 24, 2013 - 12:00am

• SERRC is Alaska’s only educational resource center.

• SERRC is an acronym for the Southeast Regional Resource Center. Since the agency provides direct student services, school and district support services, and community services to the entire state, most people refer to SERRC as Alaska’s Educational Resource Center.

• SERRC was authorized in 1976 by the Alaska State Legislature to meet the educational needs of both rural and urban communities.

• SERRC is funded entirely by grants and contracts. The agency does not receive any dedicated funding from the state or the federal government.

• SERRC currently employs more than 60 people who work out of offices in Juneau and Anchorage as well as traveling the state to work with students in rural and rural/remote areas.

• Many of SERRC’s programs are funded by grants and are free to students, educators, and the public.

• SERRC is a private, non-profit agency.
