The Capital City Chapter of the Alaska Peace Officers Association is inviting Juneau residents to participate in its third annual sprint triathlon to be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Capital City Chapter board member and Juneau Police Department Lt. Kris Sell said in a release that the event is an opportunity for athletes to raise money for athletes — all proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics, Juneau Community.
Sells says there are still openings for participants to sign up, but space is limited. You can register at Active.com, or by emailing Sell at email@example.com to request a registration form.
Teams are allowed. The registration fee is $50 for an individual competitor and $25 for a team member.
The triathlon will start at 7 a.m. at the Dimond Park Pool. Athletes can check in at 6:15 a.m. The swim is 10 laps and is followed by a 12.5 mile bike ride around Back Loop Road and a 3.2 mile run on the Brotherhood Bridge trail.
An awards ceremony for the event will be held on April 23 at 6 p.m. at the JPD station.
