A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held May 15 at Don D. Statter Harbor, the facility at Auke Bay that has been under construction since last fall.
Port Engineer Gary Gillette told the board of directors for Juneau Docks and Harbors that the project is progressing on schedule.
According to Port Director Carl Uchytil, all three members of Juneau’s legislative delegation have been invited to attend, along with the Docks and Harbors board.
Uchytil compared the ribbon-cutting plans at Statter Harbor with the ribbon-cutting for the Visitor’s Center in downtown Juneau last summer. Uchytil cut the ribbon at that event, which marked the opening of the Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau building.
The ribbon-cutting will celebrate the completion of the first phase of work at Statter Harbor. Several other major components of the harbor facility, such as a boat launch ramp, a passenger for-hire facility and a haul-out, have yet to begin construction.
