Sexual assault reported, man arrested

It was a third party who contacted the Juneau Police Department at 8:50 p.m. Saturday to report a 51 year old woman had been sexually assaulted.

The investigation revealed the woman was approached by a man she had met earlier in the evening and sexually assaulted on the 400 block of Willoughby Avenue before the assailant fled the scene. Officers were able to locate the alleged assailant, identified as Ernest H. Fawcett; he was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault in the First Degree, an unclassified felony. Fawcett was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held without bail.

The victim was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for evaluation and later released.
