Juneau police search for man who allegedly pointed handgun at kids

The Juneau Police Department are seeking help in identifying a man who allegedly pointed a gun at two boys last month.

The two boys were playing in the woods between Glacierwood Drive and Kodzoff Acres at about 9 a.m. on May 28 when they came across a man in the woods, according to an information release from Sgt. Scott Erickson.

Erickson wrote that the man confronted the boys as they were playing and pointed a revolver type handgun at them. The boys, whose ages were not given, were afraid the man was going to shoot and they ran away.

Erickson said the boys described the man as being a white male between 30 and 40 years old, wearing a big black coat, a black beanie hat and torn up jeans. They were unable to describe the man’s build.

Police say anyone with information regarding this, or any other crime, is encouraged to log onto the Juneau Crime Line at www.juneaucrimeline.com and report the tip. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and can be rewarded.

JPD and the Crime Line highlight a “Crime of the Week” each Friday to aid police investigations. The Crime Line is a nonprofit organization.
