JPD: Man arrested Wednesday for burglary, theft

24-year-old Juneau resident held without bail at LCCC

Juneau police say they arrested a man Wednesday who was wanted for burglary and theft.

Police located local resident Jack Coogan, 24, in a trailer at Switzer Village and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree burglary domestic violence and third-degree theft, according to police.

Lt. David Campbell said in an information release that Coogan was suspected of burglarizing a commercial business in the 5600 block of Montana Creek Road on Friday morning. Three handguns were reported stolen. Police did not release the name of the business.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday morning, one of the business owners reported that his house in the 3000 block of Fritz Cove Road was burglarized. The victim reported getting into a scuffle with the suspect, identified as Coogan, and Coogan made off with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the area, the release states.

A few hours later, at about 7:45 a.m. Saturday, the burglary victim then reported to police that his credit card had been used fraudulently.

The police investigation is ongoing. Coogan is being held without bail at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
