A Hoary Marmot alerts along the Granite Creek Basin Trail on Friday. There are three types of marmots in Alaska. The Woodchuck Marmot is the smallest at about 5-pounds, the Alaska Marmot is around 10-pounds and 24-inches and the largest is the Hoary Marmot with an average weight of 19-pounds and 28-inches.
