Collision injures bicyclist

JUNEAU — Police were called to the scene of a vehicle-bicycle collision Sunday morning, according to the Juneau Police Department.

A 65-year-old bicyclist collided with a 15-passenger van on Back Loop Road, the press release stated. The cyclist, a local resident, collided with the van while traveling downhill on the road from Auke Bay when the van began to turn onto the road from a private driveway.

The cyclist was transported by ambulance to Bartlett Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. About $500 in damage was inflicted on the van, driven by a 27-year-old local man.

Alcohol was not a factor in the incident, the press release stated.
