Four-vehicle accident briefly closed turn lane on Egan Monday

At about 5 p.m. Monday night, Juneau Police Department received reports of a four-car accident on Egan Drive, according to a JPD release.

When police arrived at the scene, they found that 27-year-old Juneau resident Ashley Kennedy had been unable to stop her silver 2004 Mitsubishi and had rear-ended a blue 2003 Toyota driven by a 33-year-old female resident in the northbound turn lane onto Mendenhall Loop Road, the release stated. The impact caused the Toyota to rear-end a green 1998 Ford Taurus driven by a 20-year-old male resident, which rear-ended a silver 2007 Toyota Prius driven by a 56-year-old female resident.

Capital City Fire and Rescue examined all drivers for minor, non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. No one was transported from the scene of the collision. The turn lane was closed to traffic for about 45 minutes after the crash.

Inattention on Kennedy’s part seemed to be the cause of the collision, the release stated. She was cited for negligent driving.
