AT&T invests almost $45 million in Alaska network in first half of 2013

Wireless company AT&T has invested almost $45 million in its Alaska network since the beginning of 2013, a PR Newswire release stated. From 2010 to 2012, the company invested more than $650 million to improve coverage in Alaska.

This year’s investment contributed to the March launch of 4G LTE in Juneau. The company also “expanded deployment of 4G LTE, deployed faster cell site connections to enable 4G speeds, added spectrum capacity to support additional mobile internet traffic and deployed new Wi-Fi hotspots and backbone network connections” this year, the release stated.
