Stolen bat sonar detector is ‘Crime of the Week’

The Juneau Police Department and Juneau Crime Line are seeking information regarding a theft reported to the department on June 4.

Lt. Scott Erickson said in a statement that the person reported a SM2BAT detector and song meter were stolen from the Lemon Creek area. The instrument is used to measure and record bat sonar frequencies.

Erickson said it was stolen between May 9 and May 31, 2013. The detector and other parts stolen were valued at more than $1,000.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to log onto the Juneau Crime Line at and report the tip. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and can be rewarded.
