Woman treated for injuries after crash near Shrine

A 65-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash near the Shrine of St. Therese Monday afternoon, but she has since been treated and released from Bartlett Regional Hospital, according to police and hospital spokesmen.

The woman, identified as Jane Terry, had slowed down to look at the Jensen-Olson Arboretum near Mile 23 of Glacier Highway and was rear-ended by another vehicle at about 2:20 p.m., police said.

The driver of the second vehicle, whom police identified as 29-year-old Vanessa Van Alen, was cited for careless driving for following the Subaru too closely.

Juneau Police Department spokesman Lt. David Campbell said both vehicles sustained about $2,500 in damages. They were towed from the scene.
