Police & Fire for Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013

Assault

• At 1:42 a.m. Wednesday, Shawn DeWayne Balsinger, 36, was arrested for assault in the 100 block of Franklin Street, and he was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center. Alcohol was involved.

• At 8:46 a.m. Wednesday, the Juneau Police Department investigated a report of an assault in the 100 block of Franklin Street.

Burglary

• At 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, JPD created a case regarding a burglary in the 9000 block of Douglas Highway for information.

• At 7:09 p.m. Tuesday, a 61-year-old woman reported a burglary of a residence in the 100 block of Behrends Avenue. Investigation continues.

Child abuse

• At 4:52 p.m. Tuesday, JPD conducted a confidential investigation into a report of child abuse in the Juneau area.

Criminal trespass

• At 11:23 a.m. Wednesday, JPD investigated a report of a trespass in the 2800 block of Postal Way.

Driving without a license

• At 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, Kennedy Fitzgerald Garrison, 48, was cited for driving without a license in the 1100 block of Glacier Avenue, and his vehicle was impounded.

• At 12:59 a.m. Wednesday, Dylan Eason, 19, was cited and released for driving without a valid operator’s license in the 8400 block of Thunder Mountain Road, and his vehicle was impounded.

Drug activity

• At 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, JPD investigated drug activity in the Juneau area.

Fire and medical

• At 9:04 a.m. Tuesday, advanced life support care was given to a man on Marine Way, and he was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital.

• At 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, basic life support care was given to a woman on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive, and she was taken to BRH.

• At 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, Capital City Fire and Rescue was dispatched to Distin Avenue to check carbon monoxide levels in a building. CCFR did a walk through with air measuring equipment and did not find any carbon monoxide levels.

• At 11:52 a.m. Tuesday, advanced life support care was given to a man on Skater’s Cabin Road, and he was taken to BRH.

• At 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to transport a woman and flight crew from Juneau International Airport to BRH.

• At 2:47 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to Kanat-A Street, and a man declined transport.

• At 3:39 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to Franklin Street for a fire alarm, and found the alarm sounded due to dust from construction.

• At 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to Radcliffe Road for a burn complaint, and it was an authorized permitted burn.

• At 6:47 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR responded to a good intent call on Glacier Highway and no assistance was needed. Returned to service.

• At 6:56 p.m. Tuesday, basic life support care was given to a man on Riverside Drive, and he was taken to BRH.

• At 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to Riverside Drive for an EMS call, and a woman declined transport.

• At 7:54 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to Glacier Avenue for a power pole that was on fire. The fire extinguished itself, and Alaska Electric Light & Power Co. arrived on scene to secure the line. Returned to service.

• At 9:44 p.m. Tuesday, CCFR was dispatched to Glacier Avenue for an EMS call, and a man declined transport.

• At 11 p.m. Tuesday, advanced life support care was given to a man on Mendenhall Loop Road, and he was taken to BRH.

Fraud/forgery/counterfeit

• At 12:27 p.m. Tuesday, JPD investigated a report of a theft at Sealaska Plaza.

Harassment

• At 10:46 p.m. Tuesday, a 36-year-old man reported harassment in the 1400 block of Harbor Way. Alcohol was involved.

Motor vehicle crash

• At 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, a 42-year-old woman reported her mailbox and hedge were struck by a vehicle, resulting in $600 worth of damage to her property in the 3700 block of El Camino Street.

Theft

• At 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, Julie Rena Gonzales, 37, was cited and released for larceny in the 8100 block of Glacier Highway.

• At 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, a 30-year-old woman reported fuel was siphoned from her vehicles in the 6500 block of Glacier Highway.

• At 6:59 p.m. Tuesday, a 28-year-old man reported the theft of several personal electronics in the 300 block of Fourth Street. Investigation continues.

Warrant arrest

• At 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, JPD conducted a traffic stop in the 3600 block of Mendenhall Loop Road, and 29-year-old Brandon Ross Stephens was arrested on an outstanding $2,000 Alaska State Troopers warrant charging failure to appear. He was taken to LCCC. Additionally, 25-year-old Chrystal Rose Phillips was arrested on an outstanding $2,500 trooper warrant charging failure to appear on the original charge of fourth-degree drug misconduct. She was also cited for driving without a valid license. She was taken to LCCC, and her vehicle was impounded.

• At 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Alexander White, 28, of Juneau, was arrested by Alaska State Troopers at the Juneau DMV on three arrest warrants. One warrant charged failing to appear for jury duty; the other two charged failing to appear for arraignments on the original charge of driving under the influence. He was taken to LCCC on $850 bail.
