Thane Road construction work designed to improve area safety

Employees from Juneau contractor SECON Inc. work along Thane Road near Sheep Creek on Tuesday. The project is a continuation of the Thane Road Pavement Rehabilitation project that began in 2012.

The construction work near the curve by Sheep Creek on Thane Road is aimed at improving safety on the road.

The surface is being repaved, and a guardrail is being installed. The road is also being widened, but there are no plans to install a bike lane at this time.

There are no planned road closures, and the work should be finished by the end of the month.
