Juneau police are investigating the death of a man who was found lying down between a wood wall and a chain link fence near the U.S. Coast Guard Subport parking lot, across Egan Drive from Centennial Hall shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a release from the Juneau Police Department, the deceased, 52-year-old Juneau resident Peter Karl John Jr., was found by a citizen at about 7:16 a.m. JPD officers and members of Capital City Fire and Rescue responded.
"One lane of Egan Drive was closed during part of the investigation," the release stated. "Foul play is not suspected at this point."
The state Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy to assist in determining the cause of John's death, according to police.

Juneau police are investigating the death of a man who was found on the sidewalk on Egan Drive between the U.S. Coast Guard Station Juneau and Centennial Hall shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Police have not released the man’s identity. No other information was immediately available.
In phone interviews around 9 a.m., spokespeople for the Coast Guard said they were not aware of the situation.
