Juneau businesses offer special furlough deals

In the wake of the federal government shutdown, several Juneau businesses are trying to lend a helping hand to federal employees with special deals.

Coppa, a new ice cream shop and cafe near the Federal Building and next door to Seong’s Sushi, is offering half-price coffee drinks and free day-old baked goods to federal employees.

Pie in the Sky Bakery and Cafe is providing a free cup of coffee with any food purchase or free cookie with any espresso or chocolate drink for all federal employees with ID.

The Juneau Arts and Humanities Council is offering half-price tickets for its Oct. 5 Keola Beamer and R. Carlos Nakai concert to those with federal ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center or online with the coupon code “artfurlough.” Online purchasers must show federal ID at ticket pickup

The Perseverance Theatre is offering a similar deal, slashing ticket prices for its final showings of “God of Carnage” by half for federal employees. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 463-TIXS, or online with the coupon code “furlough.” Online purchasers must show federal ID at ticket pickup.
