Police respond to altercation involving knife, baseball bat

Two people were treated at Bartlett Regional Hospital early Friday morning after sustaining injuries from what police said was an altercation involving a knife and possibly a baseball bat in the area of the Airport Apartments.

According to a release from the Juneau Police Department, two separate calls came in at 3:44 a.m. reporting an assault in the 9000 block of Glacier Highway. One man stated he had been involved in a disagreement and received injuries as a result. Shortly after, another call came in from a man who said he was driving a woman to the hospital with what he described as multiple stab wounds, the release stated. Upon arriving on the scene, JPD officers found a fight had ensued involving a knife and perhaps a bat.

The two involved have been identified as a 37-year-old female and a 24-year-old man, according to the release. The two were acquaintances, police said.

Both individuals were treated at BRH for minor injuries and alcohol was a factor, the release stated.

An investigation into this incident is continuing.
