In the Monday’s police and fire blotter, the Empire reported that Rochelle Marie Sabadin, 44, was cited and released for driving without a valid license in the 1000 block of Egan Drive in a listing under the label of “Driving while intoxicated,” based on misinformation from police. JPD spokesman Lt. David Campbell clarified Tuesday that the listing of “Driving while intoxicated” was chosen because that was the nature of the call, but that Sabadin was not cited for an alcohol-related offense. Campbell specified that Sabadin was originally stopped on suspicion of drunken driving based on a complainant who told police Sabadin’s vehicle was swerving in the road. Campbell said Sabadin passed the sobriety test given by the responding police officer, and she was only cited for driving without a valid license and not for an alcohol-related offense. When contacted by phone Tuesday, Sabadin said she was swerving because she had dropped her cigarette.
