After 15 years, local shop ends JCPenney service

Mendenhall Valley shop Formals Express and Express Alterations Inc. is no longer offering JCPenney catalog service, owner Hyun “Honey” Lundberg said. The local business began offering the service in 1998, she said. JCPenney did away with all of its catalog stores across the country Sept. 30.

Lundberg said her shop, located at 2490 Industrial Blvd., was the last in the country to end catalog service. Over the course of 15 years, 45,000 customers shopped JCPenney’s catalogs through the Juneau business, Lundberg’s husband and business partner Michael Lundberg said.

Hyun Lundberg is “doing everything the same” at her shop, which continues to sell and rent formal wear. She’s “taking care of more of my customers” now that she can focus on her original business, which she opened with her husband 18 years ago.

“I have more time for that,” she said.
